McGee Memorial Sangria with Julia Reed

From Julia’s book, ‘But Mama Always Put Vodka in Her Sangria!’

1 bottle Rioja, or other full bodied, dry red wine
½ cup simple syrup
½ cup brandy
¼ cup Grand Marnier
¼ cup orange juice
¼ cup pineapple juice
¼ cup white rum
¼ cup vodka
1 green apple, quartered, cored and sliced
1 orange, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
1 lime, sliced
½ pineapple, peeled, quartered lengthwise, cored and sliced crosswise.

Combine all ingredients except ice in a large pitcher and refrigerate, tightly covered, for at least 12 hours. Serve with ice.

Yields about 1 ½ quarts
