Countess Ellen’s Roman Punch: recipe inspired by Edith Wharton’s ‘The Age of Innocence’

Countess Ellen's Punch
1 qt. lemon (we used lime) sherbet
1 c. choice rum
1 split of champagne, iced
cinnamon (or nutmeg)

Put the sherbet in a chilled bowl. Slowly, mix in the rum. Quickly add the champagne and serve in sherbet glasses. Add a lemon or lime wheel and a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg to the top of each glass.

This recipe will serve 10 people. It should be a bit slushy in the glass.
