This weekly, self-paced course teaches writers strategies for developing their online identity as well as digital marketing of their books. By the end of 11 weeks, you will have a professional online platform in place.
Suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience, “Develop Your Online Presence” explores how you can navigate the maze of digital media, focus on your strengths and build your platform in ways (and places) that meet your goals without becoming overwhelmed. Lectures take 10 minutes to read, assignments typically take 20 – 30 minutes. Pick the lecture that seems most useful, or work straight through the 11 week course.
The sessions will address popular social networks including Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, WordPress, Blogger and Goodreads. Additionally, you’ll learn ways to get published through social media, and develop and execute long-term Facebook and Twitter strategies. The sessions tackle common obstacles, such as writer’s block, fan engagement, marketing/branding, and offer practical steps on how to overcome these barriers.
Participants should be willing to explore social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook. There are no prerequisites for participation.
“When you see what authors and entrepreneurs are doing today to market their work or services, the range of options can be overwhelming,” said Tessa Smith McGovern, founder of BookGirl.TV. “In our new, hyper-connected world, there are so many possibilities for being noticed. But there’s a simple system and a series of steps you can to follow to achieve your goals.
